Our oversight function not intended for witch-hunting – Assembly Committee reassures LG Councils in Niger

The Niger State House of Assembly’s Standing Committee on Local Government has reassured local government councils that its oversight function is not intended as a witch-hunt.

This assurance was given by the Committee Chairman, Alhaji Bello Bako, during an oversight visit to Wushishi and Rafi Local Government Areas.

Bako explained that the committee’s primary objective is to ensure transparency and the effective management of local government financial resources.

The lawmaker emphasized that the House of Assembly is constitutionally empowered to hold accountable those entrusted with public funds and resources.

During the visit, the committee inspected projects executed by the local government areas to ensure compliance with regulations.
