Why Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) is the first and the most authentic and the most courageous Commander-in- Chief who can fix Nigeria, if given the time.
Take it or leave it. I am one Yoruba guy who believes that the North has dominated the South since the Amalgamation Proclamatiom of Lord Lugard in 1914 and up till now.
It explains why it was the same North despite their apparent educational deficits or limitations compared to the South, which has always had an edge over the South, albeit. with the tacit approval of our British Colonial Masters who initiated the merger of both the North and the southern Protectorates for their own expediency and administrative convenience.
By merging a conglomeration of three irreconcilable tribes namely the Hausa/Fulani, the Igbos and the Yorubas into one country with a few Minorities like the Ijaws. the Urhobos the Efiks, the Ibibios. and the Kalabari added to the mix.
The Northern domination has continued during the first 6 years of Nigerian independence from Britain from October 1st , 1960 to January 15. 1966 and for the 38 years of Military Rule which made the North domination more stark and apparent.
The domination has continued during the remaining years of civilian rule in Nigeria from 1999 and up till now with the American Presidential System completely replacing the British Parliamentary System we used to have.
Nnamdi Azikiwe had become the first ceremonial Governor General while Executive Powers remained firmly in the hands of Tafawa Balewa as first Nigerian Prime Minister from 1960 to 1966.
The Coup of the Majors led by two officers from the South Chukwuma Nzeogwu and Emmanuel Ifeajuna was quickly aborted by Aguiyi Ironsi who took over but he lasted less than 6 months until July 29th when a revenge coup led by Theophillus Danjuma and his colleagues from the North had ended his regime.
The Northern officers had picked Yakubu Gowon a Christian officer from the Middle Belt of Benue/Plateau region to replace Aguiyi Ironsi.
After Yakubu Gowon came Murtala Mohammed who lasted for only 200 days before his assassination and he was replaced by Olusegun Obasanjo who was the only southerner the North could trust and accept. Obasanjo speak Hausa like a Jeki Nkano and he promised never to rock the boat if allowed to succeed Murtala Mohammed.
He was the Fulani- sponsored candidate and he kept his promise and he acted and behaved as one thru all of his 11 years as the longest-serving Commander-in- Chief of Nigeria with 3 years as a military ruler and 8 years as a civilian President.
After Obasanjo came Mohammadu Buhari who had previously ruled from 1983 to 1985 before he was torpedoed by Ibrahim Babangida who ruled for close to 9 years before stepping aside to allow the less than 6 months of Ernest Shonekan as interim and transient President.
Mr. Shonekan was easily defrocked by General Sani Abacha who ruled for another 5 years.
After Sani Abacha came Abdulsalam Abubakar for one year before he brought out Obasanjo from prison to come rule as a civilian President for 8 years again on the sponsorship of the same Northern politicians looking for a southerner who would never rock their boat or their firm grip on Nigerian tentacles.
After that came Umaru Yar Adua and Goodluck Jonathan for 5 years who again handed over to Buhari in 2015 who added 8 more years before he handed over to “Emi lo kan” Bola Ahmed Tinubu who emerged the winner in 2023 after so many intrigues to derail his ambition and to put another Fulani candidate in Senate President Lawan regardless of any promise Buhari had made to Bola Ahmed.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu the rugged fighter and so far the best political strategist Nigeria has ever produced, had taken over in 2023 thus achieving something that has eluded Obafemi Awolowo the greatest Oodua son and leader.
If we all look at Bola’s career and trajectory we would realize that he is the first truly authentic Southerner to be elected President of Nigeria on the platform of the APC he had helped to form and to now lead as a civilian President.
The South would be insane to allow the Minority Fulani Oligarchy in the North to derail Tinubu’s Administration and to put obstacles in his way of achieving his highly focused mission to restructure Nigeria, and to make the country a more prosperous and stable country if they would let him.
President Tinubu is assiduously working on a Budget and Tax Reform that must reflect the needs of the federating units of Nigeria in a way that makes Revenue sharing more rational and more equitable and based on the principle of Derivation, Equality and Population The formula he has proposed is so far the best but he must not relent on creating the new Ijebu State from the Southwest and Anioma State from the old Delta State for the South to level up with the North with the same 19 states they currently have.
It is a step in the right direction, if the truth be told.
I agree that Tinubu still has a long way to go, to fully stabilize Nigeria but he is going to get there, come rain or shine.
But if the Fulanis are Hell- bent to rubbish Tinubu, they are going to rubbish themselves and that move could predictably fasttrack the breakup of Nigeria faster than anything I have seen in the Horizon.
It is a prediction I am happy to make and you all can put my name to it.
The President
has so far managed to increase the GDP of Nigeria by 5 percent in less than two years in power.
Bola Tinubu is the proverbial “Ekun ta giri gbera re n’Ija Omo Adabanija, Eegun Mogaji Oko Oluremi”and the famous “Osagyefo” of Nigeria, if you can believe it.
I rest my case.
