Christian pilgrims from Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Yobe arrive Jordan

Christian pilgrims from the states of Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe and Yobe who were airlifted from Yola late in the night of Friday, January 24, have arrived their first destination in Jordan.

The pilgrims from the four states who were 352 in all and who departed from the Modibbo Adama Airport Yola at 11.36 pm on Friday, arrived at Queen Alia International Airport, Arman the Jordan capital, on Saturday at 4:15am Nigeria time and 6:15am Jordan time, according to a source on the Adamawa contingent.

The Adamawa contingent, made up of 180 pilgrims, were joined in Yola by their counterparts from the other North East states of Taraba, Gombe, and Yobe to bring the total of 352 pilgrims for the airlift.

Bidding farewell to the pilgrims at the Modibbo Adama International Airport Yola on Friday night, the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr Edgar Amos, prayed for the safe trip of the pilgrims and urged them to submit to the laws of Jordan and Israel.

The pilgrims are scheduled to tour Christian holy sites in both Jordan and Israel before returning to the country in a little over a week’s time.
