The new Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, on Tuesday met with members of the Governor’s Advisory Councul, GAC.
Meranda met with GAC members at the Lagos House in Marina area of the state.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, the new Speaker said the meeting was to seek their blessings and brief them about the impeachment of her predecessor, Modashiru Obasa.
According to Miranda: “We are here to brief them about what happened at the House of Assembly yesterday and to seek their blessing which we have gotten.”
The lawmakers said Obasa was impeached to save the integrity and sanctity of the House of Assembly and Lagos State.
The Lagos State lawmakers had impeached Obasa and replaced him with Miranda on Monday.
Jointly addressing journalists, the lawmakers said: “It’s just a change of baton, only death that is constant, so change is inevitable. The members of parliament today decided to change the leadership of the House and you know that the constitution made it clear that the house has the power to regulate its proceedings.”
