Lawyers demand justice for Jigawa rape victim

Legal and human rights groups have called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of a suspect accused of raping a 9-year-old girl in Jigawa State.

Recall that Khadija Muhammed, who was assaulted in July in Galamawa community, Dutse is currently undergoing medical treatment at a hospital in Kano due to severe injuries sustained during the assault.

Reacting to the incident, Barrister Aisha Ali Tijjani, an independent lawyer and lecturer at the Aminu Kano College of Legal Studies in Kano State, expressed her determination to ensure justice for the child.

Speaking with the Hausa service of BBC, she revealed the legal community’s commitment to the case.

“We will follow up on this matter diligently,” Barrister Tijjani assured.

Also recall that the Jigawa State Government on Wednesday pledged its support for the victim.
