Newcastle put themselves firmly in control of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie with Arsenal after a 2-0 away win in the first leg at the Emirates.
Alexander Isak continued his fine run of goalscoring form when he fired past David Raya to give Eddie Howe’s side the lead in the first half.
And Anthony Gordon doubled the Magpies’ lead after the break as the visitors held on for their seventh straight win in all competitions.
Both sides will face off in the second leg at St James’ Park next month, with Newcastle now in the driving seat to reach their second Carabao Cup final in three years.

When is the second leg?
Both sides are back in action at St James’ Park for the second leg on Wednesday, February 5.
Alexander Isak speaking to Sky Sports
‘We came here with the intention to bring a good result home and we did. We have some time to change things, come back and do the same at St. James’ Park.’
On his side’s great run of form: ‘I think it comes down to a team thing.
‘We have been solid defensively and then we have the quality up front. Jacob [Murphy] assisted me and I tried to be in the right place to finish the attacks.’
