Dr Usman was responding to a petition by some groups of people titled “Request for the Removal of Dr Usman Abubakar as Medical Director of FMC Bida,” which claimed that several consultant doctors had left the hospital and that equipment like CT scan machines, dialysis machines, and oxygen plants were not functional.

However, Dr Usman stated that the hospital currently has 60 consultant doctors, as against 39 in 2021, with seven more consultants awaiting recruitment in 2025.

The medical director also disclosed an increase in other professional staff, including nurses, pharmacists, and laboratory scientists.

He also stated that a new CT scan machine is being procured and that the hospital’s oxygen plants are fully functional, supplying oxygen to the entire state.

The only challenge facing the hospital, according to him, is inadequate bed space.

He further expressed his commitment to upholding the highest standards of medical excellence and appreciated the support of his staff.
