Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has refused to rule Manchester City out of the Premier League title race. Maresca believes the reigning champions will still compete with Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea for the title.
Liverpool currently sit four points clear at the top of the table heading into Christmas, with Chelsea in second place, two points ahead of Arsenal. Nottingham Forest occupies the final Champions League spot.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are in seventh place following a poor run of form, trailing Liverpool by 12 points.
Despite City’s struggles, Maresca expects them to mount a title challenge as the season progresses, attributing their current issues to a spate of injuries.
Maresca told reporters: “Manchester City, in the end, will be there. They are experiencing a moment that has never happened before.
“Every time they play a game, they have an injury, and they don’t have enough players at the moment. The ones they do have are not 100 per cent fit because they are just coming back from injury. It’s a very bad situation.”
