The Kano State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, says it has deployed 1,539 personnel to ensure effective traffic management throughout the festive season in the state.
The State Sector Commander, Umar Matazu, made this disclosure in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Labaran on Sunday in Kano.
The statement said the command deployed five Ambulances, 25 patrol vehicles, and one heavy-duty towing truck, among other operational equipment.
“The operation is to clear obstruction on highways in the state with a target of zero fatality during the celebration.
“This year’s end-of-the-year and new-year special patrol operation is tagged: “Operation Zero Tolerance to Road Traffic Crashes” and it is aimed at ensuring safe road use throughout the festive season.
“The special patrol operations will run from December 15, 2024 to January 15, 2025,” it said.
According to the statement, eight units commands, outpost, Zebra and roadside clinic along Kano-Zaria road would work round the clock to ensure the safety of lives and properties on the highway.
The Sector Commander urged road users to prioritize safety by adhering to traffic regulations and avoiding reckless behaviours that jeopardise lives.
