Roy Keane admits that he has some feelings of ‘worry’ about Amad Diallo and hopes he ‘stays grounded’ after his heroics in the Manchester derby.

Amad masterminded a 2-1 victory for the Red Devils at the Etihad, winning a late penalty for his side before later slotting home a dramatic winner.

That goal saw Amad become the second-youngest player ever to score a 90th-minute winner against the reigning Premier League champions.

The 22-year-old Ivory Coast international winger has shined since Ruben Amorim became head coach – and while Keane has praised Amad for his performance – he doesn’t want the youngster to get ahead of himself.

Legendary United midfielder Keane, who now works as a football pundit, told Sky Sports: ‘He’s got energy and quality. [But] you do worry as he’s a young kid and stays grounded – it was a big afternoon for him.

‘He was prepared to run in behind. Everyone wants to come and get the ball but you need people running beyond the striker.

‘You need to have certain traits to play for Manchester United and he’s got it – he looks comfortable in the jersey.

‘Some players can’t find their feet playing for United but he looks OK being a Manchester United player.’

Meanwhile, Keane has urged his former club to ‘turn up’ again when they return to action against Tottenham on Thursday in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

‘United have had a really good day but they have to turn up at Spurs on Thursday night now – that’s the challenge,’ Keane added.

‘They have to kick-on now. This might just be the spark they need, for the manager and the players, who were kissing the badge at the end.

‘They have to get momentum into their season, they’ve not had any. It’s been stop-start, hit and miss.

‘There was a bit of self-destruction from Man City but United need to use this. Turn up at Spurs and put in a spirited performance.’
