The Kullen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria, KACRAN, has called on all pastoralists to exercise restraint and avoid destroying farmers’ crops as a way of promoting peaceful coexistence between two conflicting parties.
KACRAN’s National President, Khalil Moh’d Bello, made the call in a statement issued on Friday.
Noting that mutual respect and understanding are essential for fostering a conducive environment for both pastoralists and farmers, Bello said, “It is imperative that we respect the hard work of our agricultural communities, as their efforts are vital to the food security of our nation”, he emphasized.
Bello encouraged all pastoralists to conduct their activities in the most peaceful manner, saying it is the duty of all to ensure that pastoral practices do not incite conflict but instead contribute to a harmonious coexistence.
“We appeal to all members to be law-abiding citizens. Upholding the law is crucial for maintaining order and security in our communities”, he appealed.
While commending the Yobe State government for holding strategic security meetings involving pastoralists, Bello called on herders to reciprocate the gesture by extending maximum support and cooperation to government authorities and security operatives in their efforts to maintain peace and unity across the nation.
“Together, we can build a safer environment for all”, he said.
