Niger legislators back initiative to protect, support At-Risk-Children in state

Niger State House of Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with relevant stakeholders, especially the State At-Risk Children Programme, ARC-P to achieve its objectives.

Mallam Farouq Umar Isah, Clerk of the House, made this pledge during an advocacy visit by ARC-P officials at the Assembly Complex in Minna.

He applauded the programme’s initiative, noting, “It will greatly benefit Nigerlites.¹

The Clerk explained that the programme aligns with Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s New Niger Agenda which focuses on health, education, and agriculture.

Earlier, Aisha Umar Tafida, State Team Leader and Coordinator of ARC-P explained that the programme integrates at-risk children and young adults into society by providing skills training and employment opportunities.

She stated that the programme helps to reduce their vulnerabilities, enabling them to compete with peers worldwide.

According to her, ” The seven key pillars of ARC-P include Basic Literacy and Numeracy ( Education), Health and Nutrition, Agriculture and Climate Change, Entrepreneurial, Financial Literacy, Digital Skills and Creativity, Sport and life skills and Incentivisation / Intervention, respectively”

” The programme will ensure the integration of At-Risk Children and young adults by creating opportunities for skills and employment to reduce their Vulnerabilities thereby enabling them to compete with other advantaged Children across the globe”

The partnership between ARC-P and the Niger State House of Assembly is expected to drive meaningful change for vulnerable children in the state.
