The All Progressives Congress, APC, has dismissed a story alleging that its 2023 governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Senator Aishatu Ahmed (Binani), has been suspended.
The state chapter of the party which issued a rebuttal of the said sack Thursday evening, said the party’s national vice chairman in charge of the North East, Mustapha Salihu had directed that those behind the ‘fake’ story be identified and made to answer for their act.
“Our findings revealed that the story is orchestrated by those who are not happy with the current efforts of our leader Mall Nuhu Ribadu (NSA) and Comrade Mustapha Salihu (National Vice Chairman North East) in resolving all issues and uniting the party in the state,” the state leadership said in its statement.
The statement which was signed by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Mohammed Abdullahi, added, “A written confirmation has been received from Yola South Local Government Area that they haven’t suspended Senator. Binani, rendering the planted story fake and mischievous.”
It said that the state leadership of the party under Idris Shuaibu as chairman confirmed that Senator Binani remains not only an authentic member but also one of the critical stakeholders of the party in the state.
It stressed that the national vice chairman of the party for the North East had directed that a discrete investigation be launched to find out those behind the planting of the fake story for serious disciplinary action “for deliberately inciting confusion in the party.”
Newspot recalls that this would not be the first time that a story would break alleging suspension of Binani from the APC.
It happened in March 2023 when she was in the thick of contesting for the governorship seat of the state under the party’s ticket; and the same state party leadership at the time had to rise, as now, to dismiss the said suspension and to affirm Binani for its governorship ticket.
