Jane Pwajok emerges as the University of Jos’ first female Student Union Government president, winning the election by an overwhelming majority.
The president-elect shared on Twitter (X) that she had won by a margin of more than 1,000 votes, out of five presidential candidates, making her the first female SUG president.
She wrote,
“We made history today Got elected as the First Female SUG President, University of Jos! Thank you Josites!!! Thank you to my amazing campaign team turned family. We look forward to defending the confidence you’ve reposed in us by voting us. We will Illuminate today and Shape tomorrow Because #YESWECAN”
The university’s alumni alleged Pwajok became the second female president in decades after Ene Obi, the first female president, was elected in April 1989.
