Brigade commander urges community collaboration to strengthen security in Taraba

The Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, Brigadier Kingsley Uwa, has called on community leaders to work closely with security agencies by providing actionable intelligence.

Making the call in a stakeholders meeting, in Karim-Lamido local government council of the state, he reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to working with communities and stakeholders to maintain peace and security in the state and beyond.

The stakeholders meeting convened by the Brigade Commander is said to be part of the Brigade’s proactive measures to ensure security and stability during the ongoing harvest period and ahead of the yuletide season.

Underscoring the importance of peace and security in the area, the Commander emphasized the strategic role of Karim Lamido council, due to its vast landmass and shared boundaries with other states such as Bauchi, Gombe, Nasarawa, Adamawa and Plateau.

“Peace is non-negotiable for the progress of Karim Lamido and its environs. We must foster collaboration between the people, their leaders, and security agencies to protect lives and property effectively,” General Uwa stated.

Uwa, urged the council Chairman, Britus Ilu Danjos, to intensify community sensitization on security consciousness.

He also encouraged the integration of local vigilantes and hunters into the security framework under strict supervision.

Proposing the establishment of a neighbourhood watch system to complement existing structures, he reassured stakeholders that information made available to the brigade by the people of the council would be handled with utmost confidentiality.

While commending the leadership of the Brigadier for their unwavering commitment to addressing security challenges in the state, the council chairman of Karim-Lamido, Britus Ilu Danjos, pledged the council’s support for the army and the security agencies at large.
