Activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has reacted to President Bola Tinubu’s directive to release all arrested EndBadGovernanceInNigeria minors.

Adeyanju said Tinubu’s directive is the irreducible minimum after the right abuse of all arrested protesters.

76 people were arrested in Kano and Kaduna states and detained for hoisting the Russian flag during the EndBadGovernance protest.

Those arrested were charged to court for attempting to overthrow President Tinubu.

However, a mild drama ensued last week when about 29 of the minors among those arrested appeared in court for arraignment, but some fainted due to alleged malnutrition.

The incident attracted widespread condemnation both within and outside the country, prompting calls for dropping of charges from public spirited individuals.

The widespread outcry led to Tinubu ordering the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, Lateef Fagbeni, to facilitate the immediate release of all the minors arrested.

But, chatting with Newspot, Adeyanju wrote: “The directive by President Tinubu for the minors arraigned for protesting to be released is commendable, but every protester arrested must be released unconditionally.

“This is the irreducible minimum after the right abuse of all arrested protesters.”
