Dangote Refinery has accused those saying they are importing PMS cheaper of importing substandard and low-quality products.
Newspot reported that Dangote Refinery had disclosed that it set its PMS price at N960 per litre for sale into ships and N990 per litre for trucks.
However, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, and the Petroleum Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria, PETROAN, had complained about the firm’s pricing strategy.
However, the refinery insisted that its rates are competitive and in line with international standards.
The Dangote Refinery made this known in a statement released by the company’s Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, on Sunday.
“We benchmark our prices against international prices and we believe our prices are competitive relative to the price of imports.
“If anyone claims they can land PMS at a price cheaper than what we are selling, then they are importing substandard products and conniving with international traders to dump low-quality products into the country, without concern for the health of Nigerians or the longevity of their vehicles,” Chiejina said.
The statement further pledged that the oil firm will continue its operations with a commitment to delivering affordable, good-quality, domestically refined petroleum products in Nigeria.
