Niger State Commissioner of Police Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman has called for more partnership between the police and sister agencies, saying security challenges are increasing and no single agency can handle it alone in the state.
Danmamman stated this when he received the newly deployed state commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kambra Abdullahi Adamu and his entourage, on a courtesy visit in Minna.
He said: “We must work as partners in progress, appreciate and give cover to ourselves. The commitment to serve is reflected in the uniform we wear and the concept of esprit de corps, by extending hands of fellowship, for us to deal with situations.”
He reiterated that internal security is very dynamic and getting more complex and therefore, all hands must be on deck and applying areas of core competency.
According to him: “Security agencies must work together for the sake of residents and Nigerlites; no matter what each agency’s act indicates, the most important thing is the security of life and property.
“We need more cooperation, collaboration, synergy and esprit de corps cannot be overemphasised, as we look forward to leveraging on the existing relationships to work together in tackling challenges for the pride of the services, the institutions and the personnel.”
Danmamman then congratulated the commandant for his deployment to Niger State and wished him a successful tenure.
Earlier, in his remarks, the NSCDC commandant, Kambra Adamu, said the purpose of the visit was to familiarise himself with the duties on focus, considering the importance of the Nigeria Police, as well as to seek cooperation, collaboration and synergy.
He enumerated his duties to include protection of critical national assets, training and supervision of private guard companies, disaster management and assisting other security agencies, among other responsibilities.
“It is very important to work together to reduce crime and criminality,” he noted.
