The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has said his administration, despite numerous challenges including constant opposition attacks on his personality and government, is undeterred to make Kano great.

He made the remarks at the 64th National Independence Day parade held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata Kano on Tuesday, saying the state government remains focused towards fulfilling its promises of delivering people-oriented projects that will have positive impacts on the lives of the masses and general development of the state.

“We are resolutely committed to implementing the blueprint of our government vision and mission as our guiding principle for the emancipation of the common man and making Kano great”, Governor Yusuf insisted.

“In this regard, despite the numerous challenges, especially in respect of the state of the economy, we have managed, within the short period of our administration, to turn around the fortune of our dear state by undertaking many significant strides towards implementing our development agenda.

“This will ensure the restoration of the lost glory of Kano as the commercial nerve Centre of not only Northern Nigeria but also sub-Saharan Africa.

“We have identified key sectors that are critical to our development, and we are working tirelessly to ensure that we deliver tangible results for our people,” he said.

He said considering the fact that education remains the bedrock of development in any society, the government has made it a priority to improve its schools, train teachers, and expand access to quality education for every child in the state.

According to him, the government is working to ensure that no child is left behind, regardless of their background or location.

“Our goal is to equip the next generation with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive world.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to improve the lives of our people, foster inclusive growth, and build a society where every citizen can fulfil his/her potential and contribute meaningfully to our collective progress.

He said the state government would also continue to accord priority to agriculture to boost food production stressing that “our goal is to ensure food security and create more job opportunities for our citizens in the sector.

He congratulated the people of the state on the country’s 64th Independence anniversary while praying for continued peace in the country where freedom of speech, movement and religion would continue to be respected.

“We pray that our economy would also continue to thrive for the continued improvement of the well-being of all citizens,” he added.
