Former Olympic and world boxing champion boxer Nicola Adams is set to make her Hollywood debut.

The Leeds fighter will feature in upcoming action thriller The Gun on Second Street alongside Poppy Delevingne, Tom Arnold, and Rumer Willis, Deadline report.

While her role is currently being kept under wraps, Adams has been plotting a move into acting since hanging up her gloves in 2019, studying at the Identity School of Acting (IDSA) in London where John Boyega, Damson Idris and Letitia Wright are among the alumni.

‘I’m thrilled to take on this new challenge and bring my fighting spirit to the big screen,’ Adams said. ‘Boxing taught me discipline, focus, and determination—skills I’m excited to apply to my acting career.’

The film’s producers added: ‘Nicola’s incredible achievements in sport and her magnetic personality make her a natural fit for this role.’

The Gun on Second Street focuses on the journey of a Pittsburgh police officer who accidentally shoots and kills his partner during a domestic violence call, the report claims.

The film is currently in the post-production stage.

Adams won Olympic gold at London 2012, making history four years later when she repeated that success in Rio de Janeiro, becoming the first female fighter in history to win back-to-back golds.

Six months later, Adams turned over to boxing’s professional ranks, signing with legendary promoter Frank Warren.

She reeled off wins in her first four fights before picking up the WBO interim flyweight title in October 2018, upgraded to full world champion the following year.

In her first defence of her world title against Maria Salinas, Adams suffered a torn pupil in the opening round.

While she fought through the fight to secure a draw, she announced he retirement the following month with any further damage to her eye posing the risk of permanent vision loss.

Adams has previously discussed her dreams of making her mark in the world of acting with her dream to become the next Marvel superstar.

‘One of the things that I really want to do in my acting career is to be in a Marvel movie, become a superhero or a villain’ she told Olympics.com last year.

‘That’s my goal so that’s what I visualise, the next superhero or the next villain,” Adams said. “I don’t mind if I’m the bad guy or a good guy because every superhero needs a really good villain to make them look good.’

She told Metro in 2021: I’d love to act in movies, that’s the main goal. I’d love to work with The Rock — he’s awesome.

Adams follows another former world champion boxer into acting in Kali Reis. The two-weight world champion made her acting debut in Catch the Fair One in 2021 before going onto star in the fourth season of True Detective alongside Jodie Foster.
