Aloy Ejimakor, the Lead Counsel of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has explained why the trial of the agitator was brought to an abrupt end.

Ejimakor explained that Kanu won’t be subjected to the ordeal of a trial that breaches the Constitution.

He pointed out that the proceedings has assumed the character of an unfair trial against Kanu.

In a message sent to Newspot, Ejimakor said, “For insisting on a fair trial, we have (today) brought Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case to an abrupt end before Justice Binta Nyako.

“We cannot allow Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to be subjected to the ordeal of a proceeding that is in breach of the Constitution and has assumed the character of an unfair trial.”

During Tuesday’s proceedings, a mild drama played out in the Abuja Federal High Court.

Kanu jumped up from the dock and ordered Ejimakor to sit down for him to address the court.

The IPOB leader challenged the trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako to recuse herself from his trial, saying he has no confidence in her judgement.

The Federal Government’s lawyer, Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, objected to Kanu’s request.

But Justice Nyako bowed to Kanu’s demand and recused herself from the trial.

She ordered Kanu’s case file to be returned to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, for reassignment to another judge.
