The lawyer asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to stop Egbetokun from parading himself as the IGP.

Opara is arguing that Egbetokun cannot remain in office as IGP having attained the age of 60 on the fourth of September, 2024.

Newspot recalls that following the controversy surrounding the tenure of the IGP, Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, on Friday clarified that Tinubu did not extend the tenure.

He said that instead, the President gave his approval to the law governing the tenure of the office as required.

But Opara asked the court to hold that an appointment terminated by operation of law cannot be retroactively resurrected by a subsequent amended law.

No date has been fixed for the hearing of the suit.
