The Kogi State House of Assembly has screened and cleared the immediate past Chief Judge of the State, Justice Henry Adebola Olusiyi as Chairman of the state anti-corruption commission.
Olusiyi was screened on Thursday at the house plenary following his nomination by the State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
The former Chief Judge was taken through a question and answer session at the Committee of the Whole with members asking how he would bring his wealth of experience to bear on the first against corruption.
Speaker of the House, Aliyu Umar Yusuf, who chaired the Committee of the Whole charged the new appointee to work hard and bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new assignment.
“The current Assembly is committed to ensuring transparency and accountability. It is on this note we are using you to do your best in the fight against corruption in our dear State” he noted.
Justice Olusiyi in his submission during the screening, commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for taking the bold step in establishing the commission to address issues of corruption in the state.
He promised to justify the confidence reposed in him by the Governor.
It would be recalled Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on Tuesday sent a letter to the House seeking approval and confirmation of the House for their appointments.
The Governor, in the letter, nominated Dauda Onimisi Bello for the position of Director of Operations and Dr Tseija Azubuju Seidu, Director of Administration alongside the former Chief Judge for screening and confirmation.
The House, however, slated Dauda Onimisi Bello and Dr. Tseija Azumju Seidu for screening at another date due to inadequate communication between them and the Assembly.
