Protests erupted in Ovwor, a community in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, over disagreement on the date for the community’s annual feast.
The dispute which reportedly led to multiple casualties has drawn widespread attention to the handling of traditional disputes within the community.
The newly appointed chief priest was said to have directed that the annual feast should be held in August, while a local chief disagreed and said that it should be postponed until December.
