Akwa United players have undergone successful mandatory medical tests ahead of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

The club’s head of medical department Doctor Obot Jackson revealed that an Electrocardiogram, ECG, test was carried out on all the players to detect the electrical signals produced by the heart each time it beats.

Jackson noted that it was necessary for the club to know the heart condition of the players before fielding them for matches.

“The test was done in line with NPFL’s guidelines and we are excited to announce that all the players are in sound health and are fit to compete at any level of football in Nigeria,” Jackson told Akwa United’s media.

“The test is important to individual players and the club, so we had to confirm that they are all in good condition to play.

” If during the examination we observed any issue about a particular player, it’s our place to offer professional advice but we are delighted that they all came out clean”.

The former NPFL champions will engage Lobi Stars in their opening match of the new campaign.
