Former Minister of Environment, Mrs Lawrencia Mallam, has called for the participation of more women in politics.
This is as she accused men of running down the country, lamenting that “the looting of public funds in billions is worrisome.”
Speaking on Sunday at a sensitization seminar organized by the Dignity of Women Commission, St. John’s Catholic Church, Kaduna on the theme: “Women participation in politics and guide for direction”, she lamented that the situation in the country had pushed the youths into trafficking, domestic abuse, kidnapping, among others.
The former Minister enjoined women to come out en-masse and embrace party policies where they could all join hands to build a better nation, lamenting that people were being deceived that politics is a dirty game.
“We are just beginning to know the truth and we must be very serious about this. God willing, we shall succeed.
“The drivers of the economy are 95% men. We all know that women are better managers; look at the homes, give a woman little milk, she will cater for her family very well.
“No wonder it is said that if you train a woman you have trained a nation.”
She wondered why women shy away from participating in politics and allow the men to run down the country, stressing that the voices of women were needed in the parliaments to speak out and condemn the rot going on.
Earlier, the chairperson of Dignity of Women Commission, Mrs Rose John Bagu, noted that women need to strategically organize themselves across all political parties.
