A Benue Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, Dr. Peter Adejoh has called on members of the party to give peace a chance and come together to resolve the issues affecting the party in the state.
Adejoh stated this in a statement distributed to journalists on Thursday.
He described the crisis as unfortunate, coming at a time the party was electing new executives that would lead the party for the next four years.
Adejoh stated that the issues affecting the party in the state were brotherly disagreements that can easily be resolved if members prioritize the interest of the party ahead of their personal interest.
He called on leaders of the party in the state to close ranks and resolve the issues as they have done in the past.
“I call on the leader of the party in the state, Chief Samuel Ortom, Senator Gabriel Suswam, Senator Patrick Abba Moro, Rt. Hon. Titus Uba, Sir John Ngbede, and other leaders of the party to close ranks and find a solution to the disagreement amongst members as they have done in the past,” he said.
Adejoh reminded leaders of the internal dispute resolution mechanism of the party, which has proven to be a master stroke in moments of disagreement in the party.
“The PDP has a tested and trusted internal dispute resolution mechanism that has been the master stroke anytime there is disagreement amongst members of the party.
“The leaders of the party must deploy that mechanism in finding a lasting solution to the crisis affecting the Benue State Chapter of the party,” he added.
He cautioned members against making unguarded utterances that will further deepen the disagreement in the party as the party embarks on the rebuilding process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
