1. The President and Chief Executive of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has stated that his $20bn Dangote Petroleum Refinery was built to use Nigerian crude and add value to it within the country. Dangote in a statement on Thursday, asked why should the plant deviate from this focus, as he admitted that the refinery had also been refining crude oil grades from Europe, the United States, and others

2. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has demanded a refund of N4.71tn from the Federal Government to settle outstanding debts used to import Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, into the country. This was disclosed on Thursday by the Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun.

3. No fewer than nine people have sustained various injuries and many vehicles burnt after a gas explosion triggered a fire at the Mobil Filling Station near the Airport Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos State.

4. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, has arrested a suspect impersonating a Nigerian Navy rating and engaging in fraudulent activities in the state. The suspect, Chukwugozirim Christian, a 39-year-old male, was arrested on Tuesday.

5. The Rivers State Police Command has indicated its determination to apprehend the abductors of the host pastor of Light Intercessors Church, Oyigbo, Pastor Kingsley Anosike, after he and three other ministers abducted in the Oyigbo in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State regained their freedom on Wednesday night.

6. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security agencies to intensify efforts to crack down on illegal miners across the country. Tinubu said his administration would ensure that companies engaging in mineral exploration prioritised the health and safety of Nigerians and the host communities.

7. The Gombe State Government has clarified that it has not yet received the 20 trucks of rice allocated to it by the federal government, contrary to the claim by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.

8. At least 25 persons have died in separate boat accidents in Jigawa and Bayelsa states. Report from Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State said a boat carrying passengers crossing the Gamoda River at Nahuce village yesterday capsized, killing five people, with 15 others missing.

9. Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has said that the recent hunger protest in the north is a wake-up call for governors in the region. The governor said that the majority of protesters in Nasarawa were almajiris who did not even know the meaning of the protest.

10. A famous crossdresser, popularly known as ‘Abuja Area Mama,’ was found dead in the Banex, Wuse II area of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, on Thursday morning. The FCT Police Command has commenced investigation to unravel circumstances surrounding the incident.
