Kwara remains calm, peaceful on sixth day of protest

Kwara State in the North Central geopolitical region of Nigeria has remained relatively calm and peaceful since the planned nationwide hunger protests commenced on August 1, 2024.

Newspot reports that since the protest commenced, no violence has been recorded in any part of the 16 local government areas of the state.

On the sixth day of the declared nationwide protests on Tuesday, business activities and the movement of people, goods and services have continued uninterrupted in the state capital of Ilorin.

Newspot recalls that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, a few days ago, commended the citizens of the state for their support in making the state peaceful, devoid of violence and looting by hoodlums as experienced in some northern states of the country.

He appealed to the protesters to engage the government in dialogue, as violence would not achieve the expected or desired fruitful results.

Curfew has been imposed on some states in the northern part of the country since the commencement of the nationwide protest, which is planned to last for 10 days.
