Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Abia State Governor, Ferdinand Ekeoma, has said that the Abia State government has not received any court order sacking the newly coronated 9th Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom, Eberechukwu Oji.

Ekeoka explained that the staff of office has not been withdrawn from the monarch.

The spokesman said this on Monday at the Government House, Umuahia, while speaking on the traditional stool matter.

It would be recalled that an Abia State High Court sitting in Umunneochi had last week, sacked the new Eze Aro, Eberechukwu Oji, from his throne.

The court sacked the monarch while ruling in a case marked HUM/1/2024, filed by Mazi Adolphus Ulu Nwankwo and others.

Delivering the ruling, Justice Chido Nwakanma ordered the Abia State government to withdraw the staff of office given to Eberechukwu Oji, pending the determination of the suit.

But reacting to the matter while speaking with journalists, Ekeoma said that the Abia State government has not received any court order sacking the newly coronated king.

“The rumor is false, it’s baseless, it’s unfounded. It’s government that issues staff of office, it’s government that recognizes every Eze.

“When you are coronated you are issued with staff of office, you are given a certificate. The government has not gotten any court order,” Ekeoma said.

Ekeoma who said that due processes were adhered to in recognizing Eberechukwu Oji as the Eze Aro, maintained that anybody who has not been recognized or did not go through the due process has the locus to challenge the coronated Eze.

Also, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Okey Kanu, announced that henceforth, motorists driving with hooded number plates or those without number plates in the state would be apprehended and punished by the security agencies.
