The people of Idanreland are in deep mourning for their highly respected adorable and lovable paramount traditional ruler Oba Frederick Aroloye Arubiefin IV. who passed on to join his ancestors on Tuesday 30 July 2024. A first-class cerebral monarch, who ascended the throne in 1976 and reigned for 48 momentous years. He lived for 102 years.

Arubiefin IV, owa of idanre land was born in March 1922 at idanre local government area of ondo state
His late father oba aladegbule aroloye arubiefin III, was the 25th owa of idanre and had a meritious reign of about 50years and passed on at the age of about 140years Oba adegunle’s mother was olori yeyesa ibosunepola aroloye. The late olori’s mother migrated from ikole ekiti on the advice
of an oracle. The oracle warned that she should seek settlement on top of a hill. This according to the oracle, would enble her to have children. She heeded the warning of the oracle and became a sojourner, searching and moving around from one hilly town to the other. She went to oka akoko ,ikere and other towns before she was directed to oke-
idanre At oke idanre, it was a dream come true. She got married to late chief adaja and had three children among whom was Yeyesa Ibosunepola Aroloye the darling mother of the late oba Fredrick Adegunle Aroloye. Gunle, as he was fondly called
by his late father, attended Saint Paul’s primary school and Methodist primary school, idanre between 1938 and 1949,
HE was admitted to the famous Western Boy’s ’s High School, Benin. He, however left this school for Hussy College, Warri in 1950, another renowned school in the old Midwestern region. He graduated with distinction from this unique citadel of learning
in 1954. The death of young gunle’s mother some few days to his class IV final examination though, had a devastating effect on him but did not deter his quest for knowledge. Rather thantaking to the advice of friends to stay in Nigeria, he took the
bull by the horn and left Nigerian shores in 1957 for further studies in Great Britain. While in England, oba aroloye enrolled at ballam and tooting college of commerce and law, (1958-63). He holds diploma in commerce and law , 1960, higher diploma in law, 1962, fellow institute of book-keepers, 1963, higher diploma in municipal administration, London,
1967, final certificate of corporation of secretaries, (ACCS London), 1968After all these remarkable feats oba aroloye was England employed as licensing officer, survey country council, Kingston-on-thames surrey England (1963-1966). He
was posted on promotion based on merit to greater Londoncouncil in 1966, as a senior pay officer. This position he held until he returned to his fatherland in 1969.
Oba adegunle aroloye’s record in terms of honesty and prudency, hardworking and dedication to duty till date has been an eloquent testimony to his path of greatness. His home coming brought a lot of change and development into his life. His
father, the late oba aladegbule aroloye on the other hand, was happy to see his son before his death, the late king was happy that he had the opportunity to pass some instruction to the heir apparent before joining his ancestors. This, he did
few days before his death He told young and promising Adegunle to prepare himself for the greater challenges ahead, and urged him to be always steadfast and firm.
During the tussle for kingship, he sought employment with the defunct
Western State government and was posted to Ondo treasury cash office. In 1970. Oba aroloye was transferred to Abeokuta between 1971 and 1972, and Ilesha in 1972-1974, saki, in 1972-1976.He was seconded to Ado-Ekiti as senior treasury officer in 1976, after the creation of Ondo State. The post he held until his appointment as the Owa of idanre in September, 1976. Oba Adegunle Aroloye’s reign, no doubt brought about a
lot of development and achievements in the town, such as schools, hospitals, pipe-borne water, electricity and improved transportation. Inaccessible roads, which had been a
perennial problem in the town, received his utmost attention on ascending the throne.
Oba aroloye tried relentlessly to see that the road linking Akure and Idanre, Owena and idanre
were given utmost attention. For proper governance and effective administration, Oba
Adegunle aroloye divided his over 400 villages into 11 units with one Olu administering each unit. The Olus however hold their allegiance to the Owa.
Oba adegunle aroloye’s reign promoted unity, peace and harmony among the populace. His unique way of settling internal dispute, likened with the biblical Solomon has endeared him to the heart of the people.
Peace has also become a permanent feature in the town and there is general security of lives and property. It is during his reign that the welfare of farmers in the town changed for better, thanks to lucrative cocoa business. Farmers are now seen erecting buildings of different structures and competing favorably with their counterparts engaging in white collar jobs.
Since Oba Aroloye ascended his father’s throne, he has taken Idanre to greater heights. He has been serving at various levels in the local government
area, state and national level namely:

Oba Adegunle is a philanthropist, humanist and a
loving father. He has helped a lot of people reshaping their future and has impressed it on the Local Government Council to award scholarship to indigent students.
Oba Fredrick Adegunle aroloye is a devout Christian. He is happily married and blessed with children. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE.
