Some groups on Tuesday announced that they have called off the planned national protest in the North Central states of Nigeria.
The Take It Back movement (North Central), Middle Belt Economic Forum, and Renewed Hope Prosperity Ambassadors announced the development at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.
Dr. Amodu Ben, who addressed journalists on behalf of the groups, cited concerns raised by stakeholders about the potential threats by some criminal elements to destabilize and cause harm to the nation.
According to them, the decision to shelve the protest scheduled for August 1 and 10 was made after a careful appraisal of the country’s situation.
The groups also revealed that they had fruitful interaction with some critical stakeholders in the region before announcing the cancellation.
“We have come to this decision not out of fear or intimidation, but out of a deep understanding of the current political climate and the potential consequences of our actions.
“Let us join forces to build a brighter future for the Middle Belt region, one that is founded upon the principles of peace, prosperity, and cooperation, and where the collective efforts of our citizens can flourish,” Ben said.
