Pastor of the New Reservation Area Baptist Church Iyaganku in Ibadan Rev Kayode Oyedemi took a deep look at the root cause of Nigeria’s problems since independence and came out with the verdict that “we are all guilty of corruption”.
He declared: ” There is corruption in every sector. There is no where you turn to, corruption keeps staring at you. From the police, judiciary, religion , politics, Health, education etc”
In his sermon at Late Justice Adegboye Gbolagunte’s funeral service on Friday 26 July 2024 Rev Oyedemi likened corruption in Nigeria to how Jesus replied those who came to stone to death woman whom they accused of adultery in ( John 8.7) :”Let anyone among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”
He said both the leaders and the followers should see themselves enmeshed in corruption.
He explained that the followers of yesteryears who had once been in the vanguard of condemning bad leadership had been finding their ways to leadership but unfortunately they had been finding it difficult to effect any change because they too were products of corruption.
Pastor Oyedemi said Nigerians should seek the face of God, begged for forgiveness to allow God’s mercy and grace to be on each and every one of us for the birth of New Nigeria.
He said the late Justice Gbolagunte lived a puritan life worth of emulation .
” Nigeria would have been a better country if she had find someone in governance with integrity like Justice Gbolagunte “.
