Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has approved the suspension of Machina Local Government Council chairman, Idrissa Mai Bukar Machina, “due to acts of misconduct and insubordination.”
The suspension was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Press Secretary to the State Government, Shuaibu Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the suspension, which is with immediate effect, was in the exercise of the powers conferred on the state governor by Section 2 of the Local Government Law (as amended) 2019.
“Subsequent upon the above, His Excellency has also directed the suspended chairman to hand over the affairs of the Local Government Council to the Vice Chairman pending further directives,” the statement said.
Idrissa Mai Bukar Machina was elected as chairman in the recently concluded local government poll, where APC won the election in a landslide victory.
