The State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, disclosed this via its official Facebook page on Tuesday.

According to the humanitarian agency, the incidences were mostly due to heavy windstorms and rainfall recorded across affected communities in 12 local government areas of the state.

“Based on our findings, a total of 4,976 households with about 10,845 individuals across 12 LGAs of Yunusari, Nguru, Nangere, Gujba, Damaturu, Fika, Bade, Bursari, Yusufari, Geidam, Machina and Karasuwa were affected recently by the disaster,” it posted.

It also stated that the worst affected LGAs are Damaturu, Nangere, Nguru, Bade, Yunusari, Fika and Gulani, where the disaster led to the displacement of over 1,385 households and nine deaths recorded across four LGAs.

SEMA noted that local government emergency management committees, alongside LGA teams and community volunteers, have intensified evacuation and profiling while mobilising resources to support victims as directed by the state governor.

The agency, however, called on LGA teams and other stakeholders to intensify sensitization, especially in high-risk areas across the state.
