A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State and former member of the National Assembly, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, has made a clarion call for gender equality in politics.

Nwaogu expressed her views while featuring on the Magic FM political affairs programme “Weekend Dialogue,” monitored by Newspot on Saturday.

She regretted the challenges hindering women in politics but was hopeful for a better future for the female gender.

The ex-lawmaker maintained that women have the cognitive experience and adequate managerial skills to handle any elective positions, urging the electorate to give the female gender a chance, as that is the only way to ascertain their leadership qualities.

While offering solutions to these challenges, Senator Nwaogu said that organizing conferences, seminars, and encouraging active involvement of women in politics, despite the outcome of the 2023 election results, remains key.

Her words: “Many factors are hindering women’s involvement in politics, but there is room for improvement, and I’m sure that the future looks good for the female gender.

“I’m sure that in the nearest future, women will take up their most desired positions in politics. I’m encouraging everyone to give women a chance.

“Women have the cognitive experience and adequate managerial skills to lead.”
