A Nigerian woman died shortly after returning to the country from Canada.
It was gathered that the yet-to-be identified woman, who returned to the country healthy, felt ill days later and died at an unnamed Lagos hospital
The death of the returnee was announced by her niece, Wura Nicole, in a statement on X on Saturday 15 June.
According to Nicole, her aunt, the deceased was said to have passed away after stooling an vomiting.
Her death was suspected to be from cholera outbreak in Nigeria.
No fewer than 30 people have died and 1,141 have been hospitalised following the outbreak of the epidemic.
The bereaved niece mentioned that her aunt, who was “purging and vomiting” at the same time, complained she was weak until she died.
Nicole wrote, “My aunt got back from Canada last week; she wasn’t sick or anything.
“Monday morning, she started purging and vomiting but was able to drag herself to the hospital.
“She kept saying she was weak until she passed away.
“Only for us to hear about the cholera outbreak days later.”
