Taraba Govs condemns alleged killings, abduction of fishermen by suspected IPOB in Anambra

Governor of Taraba state, Agbu Kefas has expressed concern over the alleged killings of some fishermen from the state by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB in Anambra State.

The victims, some of whom were also alleged to have been abducted in Anambra by the suspected members of IPOB are reportedly from Ibbi local government council of Taraba.

They were alleged to have been killed and abducted in Osama village in Ogbolu local government area of Anambra State by persons suspected to be IPOB.

While four were alleged to have been brutally murdered, nine, at the time of filing this report, were said to be in the custody of the suspected kidnappers whom the people of Ibbi community believe were members of the IPOB.

Newspot also gathered that the victims fell prey to their abductors while travelling from their local government council in Taraba to source for their livelihoods in the aforementioned state.

Reacting to the ugly incident on Friday in Jalingo, the governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, through his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication, Emmanuel Bello, said relevant mechanisms have been put in place to rescue the remaining fishermen alive.

Bello, who announced that the governor and the government of Taraba State are aware of the situation, said the governor is committed to seeing that the captives are rescued.

Some persons from the Ibbi community who spoke with Newspot said all efforts to speak with the victims via telephones proved abortive following the alleged refusal of the kidnapper to link them up.
