Arsenal must trigger Benjamin Sesko’s €65m (£56m) release clause by the end of June, according to reports in Germany.
The Gunners are leading the race to sign the 20-year-old forward from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig ahead of Manchester United and Chelsea.
Sesko has been in fine form for RB Leipzig this season, producing 14 goals and two assists across 31 games in the German top-flight.
He has also impressed on the international stage with Slovenia, conjuring up 11 goals in 28 caps for his country.
Despite only joining RB Leipzig last summer, there is lots of interest in Sesko and Arsenal appears to be his most likely destination at the moment.
The north Londoners will reportedly need to trigger Sesko’s £56m release clause by the end of June, though, before the clause in his current deal expires.
United and Chelsea are also well aware of Sesko’s release clause and could be ready to swoop in should Arsenal ultimately decide not to launch a bid.
Sesko’s agent was in attendance to watch Arsenal’s 1-0 win over United at Old Trafford earlier this month.
Sesko snubbed both United and Chelsea while he was at Red Bull Salzburg and speaking in September 2023, he opened up about his decision to join RB Leipzig.
‘The thing is, I wasn’t really involved in these kinds of conversations,’ Sesko said.
‘But I think it was better to come here [to RB Leipzig].
‘It was very important for me to go to a place that plays a similar style of football.
‘I already knew what I had to do and didn’t have to go through a whole learning process again.’
