.In the corporate world, the chase of success often takes center stage, with organizations zooming in on growth, profitability, innovation and stability. This, most times, they do while forgetting the underlying role of peace in fostering those results. They thereafter end up going round in circles, dealing with different dimensions of disharmony with a half-measure approach that ends up gulping up the time for overall productivity promising of the power to impact the organisation positively and enduringly.

In the course of this series, we’ll be exploring corporate peace ethics for organisations while delving into how as an individual you can lead peace within your organisation that in turn, improves your daily performance on the job and consequently, spread quickly to the whole house.
Corporate Peace Ethics
Every organisation needs a corporate peace culture that accommodates corporate peace ethics which in turn guides the conduct of the organisation. Corporate peace ethics involves a set of principles and practices that are deliberately crafted at creating a peaceful environment for employees to thrive professionally and personally.
Part of these ethics are:
Mutual Respect
Mutual respect is the bedrock upon which cohesive and thriving workplace cultures are built. Mutual respect is an important ethic that helps in fostering collaboration, understanding, and inclusivity among individuals within the organization.
This entails acknowledging the inherent value and dignity of every member of the team, regardless of their position, background, or perspectives. This is the basis for healthy interpersonal relationships and efficient teamwork. In an environment dominated by mutual respect, employees feel empowered to voice their opinions, share their ideas, and contribute to the collective goals of the organization. It gives a sense of belonging and psychological safety, where individuals feel valued, heard, and appreciated for their unique contributions that could be pivotal towards innovation and creativity.
An organisation that lacks in the aspect of collaboration and interpersonal relationships is a failure in operation as no tangible results can be achieved by a group that lacks mutual respect for one another. Therefore, it bears profound impact that an organisation creates and encourages a space where every team member feels respected which in turn gives them psychological safety to contribute their ideas and put their skills to effective use for the attainment of organizational goals.
As a company, you win, when your employees see their workplace as a second home that they are always quick to resume to office for it offers a space for the full expression of themselves without feeling judged, unseen or unappreciated.
Empathy
Directly trailing the ethic of mutual respect is empathy that entails the ability to understand and share the feelings, perspectives, and experiences of others. This requires stepping into the shoes of colleagues, peers, and stakeholders, and embracing their joys, struggles, and aspirations with sincerity and compassion.
In a workplace where empathy exists, deeper connection among colleagues get fostered as team members help each other navigate challenges with grace, fostering an environment of collaboration.
By modeling empathetic behavior, actively listening to the needs and concerns of employees, and demonstrating genuine care and support, leaders inspire a culture of empathy that permeates throughout the entire organisation, consequently creating a feeling of belonging, support and care that promotes harmony in the organisation, thereby boosting individual’s motivation towards organisational goals.
Romans 12: 16-21: Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but readily adjust yourself to [people, things] and give yourselves to humble tasks. Never overestimate yourself or be wise in your own conceits.
