Bayern Munich have made contact with former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane as they continue their search for a manager to replace Thomas Tuchel.

After a disappointing Bundesliga campaign, Bayern and Tuchel have agreed to part ways at the end of the season, although they are still battling to end the season on a high in the Champions League.

Bayer Leverkusen look certain to win the Bundesliga, but Bayern are still alive in Europe, drawing 2-2 with Arsenal in north London in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

However, even if Tuchel manages to win Europe’s biggest prize, he will be leaving the club and the German giants are hunting down his successor.

Spanish publication Marca report that Bayern have made contact with Zidane’s agent, registering their interest in the legendary Frenchman.

Bayern were also looking to gauge the interest of Zidane in taking on the role, with the 51-year-old out of work for three years since leaving Real Madrid for a second time.

Since then he has been approached by the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain but opted not to return to management, so there is no guarantee that he would accept a move to Germany.

Zidane has also been linked with the Manchester United job for years but reportedly has little interest in a move to the Premier League.

In a market which is lacking elite level managers, Bayern have also been linked with two of their former bosses in Hansi Flick and Julian Naglesmann.

Zidane may have been out of work for three years but he remains an appealing candidate after winning three Champions Leagues and two La Liga titles as Real Madrid boss.

Bayern will be focussed on the action on the field on Wednesday when they host Arsenal in the huge second leg of their Champions League quarter-final in Bavaria.
