Arsenal played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Bayern in the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night.
Though the Gunners were the better side overall, they struggled to deal with the visitors’ speed and trickery, with blistering counter-attacks leading to both of their goals.
Sane himself had a great game, with Harry Kane scoring from the penalty spot after the winger was fouled in the box by William Saliba.
Kiwior was the one tasked with dealing with the former Manchester City star, a job which he failed to do, with Sane causing him constant problems until the defender was eventually subbed off at half-time for Oleksandr Zinchenko.
‘Kiwior was getting cooked by f***ing Sane, let’s have that right. He was scared of him,’ Arsenal legend Wright said after the game on the Wrighty’s House podcast.
‘I was a little bit disappointed with Kiwior. He was stuck between, “Do I go all the way in or do I drop off of him”.
‘Act like you’re going to get tight then drop off, let him get the touch so then he’s either going to have to knock it past you and you’ve got half a chance of getting something on it… or f***ing foul him!’
Despite his brilliant performance, Sane was subbed off after 66 minutes and replaced by Kingsley Coman, a decision that left the Germany international ‘disappointed’.
Conversely, Wright said: ‘I was delighted to see Sane go off. I thought it was a poor substitution, I would not have taken Sane off.
‘He [Thomas Tuchel] really let us off the hook there because Coman’s not got the same type of penetration that Sane had.’
The former striker later added on Twitter: ‘Leroy Sane so good last night.
‘If you too tight he’ll roll you. If you drop off he’ll take you on and beat you. Floats around the pitch. Player.’
