Leroy Sane admits he was ‘disappointed’ by Thomas Tuchel’s decision to substitute him during Bayern Munich’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Tuesday.

The German was Bayern’s best player as Tuchel’s side left London with a credible draw ahead of the second leg at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern, underdogs going into the first leg, went 1-0 down when Bukayo Saka curled in an opener.

But Serge Gnabry equalised, before a dazzling Sane run earned Bayern a penalty for Harry Kane to convert.

Sane gave Jakub Kiwior a torrid time, with Mikel Arteta replacing him at half-time.

But Oleksandr Zinchenko was relieved to see Sane go off with the score at 2-1, much to the German’s frustration.

‘I had a bit of pain, but after that things got better,’ said Sane.

‘I was a bit disappointed, but as I said we have another game at home, and I’m looking forward to it. It’s going to be tough, nothing is decided.

‘It’ll be an open game and we’ll see what happens’.

While Sane expects to be fit for the second leg, Gnabry is likely to miss out.

The German injured his hamstring in the second half and was forced off.

‘It’s a hamstring injury,’ said Tuchel. ‘It doesn’t look good for the second leg.’
