Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has charged all citizens across different religious beliefs to demonstrate peaceful coexistence at all times.
The Governor particularly urged the Muslim faithful to continue to pray for peace and harmony within Nigeria in the face of the current economic challenges.
In his goodwill message to Muslims signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Gill Nsa as they celebrate 2024 Eid-el-Fitr, to mark the end of their one month of Ramadan fasting, Otu acknowledged Muslims’ love, selflessness, and sacrifices throughout the holy month.
He urged them to continue doing good deeds beyond its conclusion, encouraging them to reflect upon and practice the fundamental principles and teachings of Ramadan while giving thanks for the successful completion of the fast.
The governor said Ramadan is an essential aspect of Islam worldwide as it teaches abstinence from worldly pleasures and strengthens one’s faith through prayer and piety according to Qur’anic injunctions.
He expressed gratitude to those who support his people-first agenda aimed at restoring lost glory to society’s poor and vulnerable via government policies and programs.
