Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has called on the Muslim faithful in the country to continue to pray for peace and harmony within Nigeria in the face of the current economic challenge as they celebrate 2024 Eid-el-Fitr.
Gov Otu said this in a goodwill message to the Muslims signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Gill Nsa as they conclude the one-month Ramadan fast.
He acknowledged Muslims’ love, selflessness, and sacrifices throughout the holy month and urged them to continue doing good deeds beyond its conclusion.
He encouraged the Muslim faithful to reflect and practice the fundamental principles and teachings of Ramadan while giving thanks for completing their fasting period.
Otu emphasized that observing Ramadan is an essential aspect of Islam worldwide as it teaches abstinence from worldly pleasures and strengthens one’s faith through prayer and piety according to Qur’anic injunctions.
Otu also expressed gratitude to those who support his people-first agenda aimed at restoring lost glory to society’s poor and vulnerable via government policies and programs.
Governor Otu charged all citizens across different religious beliefs to demonstrate peaceful coexistence at all times.
