Gary Lineker says ‘it’s written in the stars’ for Arsenal to win Premier League | Football

As it stands, Arsenal are top of the table after they comprehensively defeated Brighton 3-0 on Saturday evening.

With seven games left they are just a point ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City, the latter keeping pace after coming from behind to beat Crystal Palace 4-2.

And they’ll remain top providing Liverpool don’t win when they travel to arch-rivals Manchester United on Sunday.

It’s perhaps the closest and most unpredictable title race in Premier League history, and one that Mikel Arteta thinks will go down to the very last day of the season.

The comments drew hysterics from Wright and fellow pundit Dion Dublin, as Lineker followed up with: ‘Can I call you bro?’ to which the Arsenal legend replied: ‘You can call me anything you like if that happens man!’

Back in December, Wright announced he was stepping down from MOTD after 27 years to spend more time with his family.

‘I’m going to actually watch more football – I’m going to watch my granddaughter,’ the former England striker said at the time.

‘I’m going to watch a lot more women’s games down at Borehamwood. I’m going to watch a lot more Arsenal games just to be there just to be there with fans.

‘Go with my son and his missus – just go and be with them and be amongst it, just to celebrate when we win or when we lose.

‘And spend a bit more time with my missus, Nance, because she has to do so much on a weekend with the two girls who are getting to a certain age where they have to be up and down all over the place.’

Should the title race come down to the final day (19 May) as predicted, Wright and Lineker will be hoping to analyse Arsenal lifting the trophy after they play Everton, while Liverpool face Wolves and City host West Ham.
