Mauricio Pochettino has bizarrely claimed that the weather forecast will have an impact on Chelsea’s hopes of beating Leicester City in the FA Cup.

Chelsea lost the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool last month and the FA Cup is their last chance to secure major silverware in what has been a dissapointing season.

The west Londoners host Championship leaders Leicester at Stamford Bridge on Sunday in the quarter-finals and head into the clash as huge favourites.

Ahead of that match, Chelsea head coach Pochettino was quizzed if reaching the semi-finals of the competition would feel like a success – or if it that feeling would only come if they lifted the trophy – given their runner-up finish to Liverpool.

‘I don’t know because it’s strange here to judge what it means to be successful,’ Pochettino said in his press conference on Friday.

‘You know, sometimes the expectations are so high. It depends on the mood on the day. In England, sometimes there is rain, sometimes it is sunny.

‘To beat Leicester, it would be massive for us in the dressing room and on the training ground.

‘To have another game at Wembley… between you and me, some players did not sleep the day before the [Carabao Cup] final.

‘That will bring more experience and it will make us be better. For us, it’s a chance to reach another semi-final. It is so good for us.

The opportunity [to qualify for] Europe through the FA Cup is massive. Leicester are doing very well and the coach is doing fantastic. It will be tough.’
