Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has warned midfielder Thomas Partey that he would have to earn ‘the right’ to get minutes in the Gunners squad.
Partey was summoned by Arteta from the bench after 65 minutes to replace Jorginho in the midfield as Arsenal thrashed Sheffield United 6-0 in Monday’s Premier League tie.
The match was the Ghana international’s first appearance since last August after returning from injury.
Hamstring and Groin injuries have limited the Partey to just 366 minutes across all competitions for Arsenal this term.
“Today obviously Thomas is available now to play a certain number of minutes,” Arteta said at his post-match interview.
“He needs to build that, because it was his first minutes after four months which is a long time. And then, like everybody, you need to have the right to earn the minutes.”
