February 28, 2024,
Dear Mr. President,
HON. LUCKY AIYEDATIWA’S ALLEGATION OF CERTIFICATE FORGERY AND OUR PARTY’S (APC) ELECTORAL FORTUNES IN THE UPCOMING 2024 GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION IN ONDO STATE.
On behalf of our members in the Ondo State Redemption Initiative (OSRI) and the well-meaning people of Ondo State, we appreciate your fatherly role and statesmanship during the political imbroglio that engulfed our State last year.
Sir, we also thank you for your support and for standing by our late Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN CON through his health challenges, his death and burial in which your Vice President, Senator Kashima Shettima (GCON) was physically present to commiserate with us.
Mr. President sir, to avoid regrets, we are compelled to bring to your attention the simmering allegation of certificate forgery against the Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Mr. President, kindly note that the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) under Section 182(1)(j) states as follows: “No person shall be qualified for election to the office of the Governor of a State if (j) he has presented a forged Certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission”.
When Mr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa contested as a candidate for the House of Representatives in Ilaje/Ēse-Odo Federal Constituency in 2015, he presented a West African School Certificate (WASC) number 15592019 to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In 2020, on a joint ticket with Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN CON, he presented the same certificate to INEC. He claimed to have attended and sat for the May/June West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE) at Ikosi High School, Ketu, Lagos State, in 1982 to obtain the said certificate.
Mr. President sir, our investigation revealed that the said Ikosi High School was established in 1980 by the administration of Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande of blessed memory. The school had its first set of students in 1980 and was only accredited to present students for the West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE) by the WAEC in 1985.
Sir, the specific question is, how did Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa obtain the WAEC WASCE Certificate number 15592019 in 1982 when the school, Ikosi High School, Ketu began presenting students for the WAEC WASCE in 1985? In view of past experiences in some States of the Federation, and to avoid any untoward thing that could rob our party of the labour of our sweat, we humbly enjoin Mr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to offer concrete, verifiable and cogent explanation to Your Excellency as the leadership of our party and the hardworking people of Ondo State.
Mr. President sir, we would be doing incalculable damage to our party, ourselves, and a great disservice to Ondo State, if we do not bring these facts of Certificate Forgery against Mr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa before you. We are afraid our party may fall into the same pit we fell into in Bayelsa in 2019, if we fail to bring this to the fore.
Mr. President sir, we humbly appeal to you and the leadership of our party to intervene decisively and urgently so that what befell our party in Bayelsa in 2019 does not repeat itself in Ondo State in 2024.
Thank you.
