Newspot reports that the Nigerian government had promised to release grains to the public from its national reserves in a move to cushion the effect of economic hardship on citizens.

Addressing a joint press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, Minister of Information and National Orientation Muhammed Idris and Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, said the food items will be released free of charge by the Tinubu administration and will reach every Nigerian, especially the needy.

“The 42, 000 metric tonnes of food from the national food reserves is free. We’re trying to crash down the prices of food and make it available,” Kyari said.
